Art in the Heart Educators Exhibit
March 9, 2010Bangor Public Library
Paintings! Prints! Photographs! Assemblages, fabric and more! The Art in the Heart Art Educators exhibit is being held at the Bangor Public Library, in the Lecture Hall. Twenty two area art educators have work on display. The exhibit is varied and colorful and reveals a great deal about the teachers participating. The exhibit will be on display for the month of March and will be part of the downtown Bangor Art Walk on March 19. On that evening, the public can view the exhibit as well as artist studios and galleries in downtown Bangor. Refreshments will be served at various locations during the 5:00 – 9:00 PM event.

The National Youth Art Month celebration at the Portland Museum of Art was a huge success. Thanks to the Maine Art Education board members and some MECA students for helping to make it happen. A big thanks, too, goes to all the art teachers and aspiring artists throughout the state for their hard work in creating a truly wonderful show. Parents and students were beaming with pride!
It should also be noted that Maine Art Education Association named its Art Advocate of the Year, Roxanne Quimby of the Quimby Family Foundation. The Foundation has given to many, many non-profit arts groups to make the arts available to Maine residents.
So, thank you Quimby Family Foundation!
