Brewer High School

Who says collaboration doesn’t take place at the high school?

I received an email from art teacher Randy Menninghaus, who shared the following collaboration work that is happening at Brewer High School.

Michele H

“I am collaborating with modern language and English to create portraits that honor some of the disappeared people from Argentina’s Dirty war. We are fortunate to have a Spanish teacher, Fred Raven, who has met some of the Mothers who walk every Thursday in the plaza in Argentina.

English teacher, Andrea Martin, will help my students polish their artist statements. Mr. Raven’s class than translates the artists statements. We did this last year and than posted the images on line so that the relatives of the deceased might have access to the art work.

At the end we hung them up in the display area on the Day of the Dead and celebrated their memories with Day of the Dead Bread.  A great source is the Disappeared Project on the net.”
