Google Art Project

On February 2nd I posted the information on the Google museum project. Recently a colleague sent me the link to this TED Talk called Amit Sood: Building a museum of museums on the web.

Amit Sood is the head of Art Project, Google’s effort to bring the world’s greatest museums onto the web. Amid is the creator of the idea and behind the building of the website, 18 months of a team working to make it happen. Amid grew up in India and while he was growing up he didn’t have access to great museums. When he started traveling he learned a lot from visiting museums. He put together the desire to make museums more accessible with the technology to make the Google art project become reality.

Amid makes it clear that the project supplements the experience of visiting the museum not to replicate the experience.  If you haven’t visited I highly recommend that you check out the Google museum site as well as watch the TED Talk.

Bangor Schools Art Exhibit

At the Bangor Mall

On display at the Bangor Mall is the student art exhibit from the Bangor Schools. The mall is such a great venue to display art work since there are so many people that get to see it.

My colleague David Patterson lives in Bangor and he has a son in 1st grade who has art work on display. In David’s words: “I firmly believe that the arts are integral to a quality education. As always, the quality of work on display from across the entire school department was excellent”.

Thanks to David for sending me the pictures I’ve included in this post.
