February 17, 2014Fine Arts Academy begins with Visual Art option – September 2014
Bangor High School will offer an exciting program option beginning in the fall of 2014 for any student interested in concentrated, 4-year study of visual art. The BHS Fine Arts Academy was approved for continued development by the Bangor School Committee based on an innovative approach to curricular and extended study of visual art, a model that will expand to the performing arts (music, theater) in 2015. Following a common introductory course The Creative Process, students choose one of three visual arts curricular pathways (Digital / Commercial, Two-Dimensional, Three-Dimensional) and extend their classroom work through school and community-based seminars and summer study. The culminating experience is a Senior Capstone in concert with the corresponding Advanced Placement (AP) course that yields a portfolio of exceptional depth and quality and distinguishes students for continued work and study in the arts following graduation.
