Messalonskee High School Art Exhibit

During October, November, and December students from Leone Donovan’s art classes at Messalonskee High School have artwork on display at the Maine Department of Education. There is an outstanding collection that can be viewed by the public during business hours and enjoyed each day by the Department employees.
This week we will be recognizing the high school artists and musicians from Messalonskee High School at a reception and Celebration of Arts Education being held at the Blaine House. First Lady Ann LePage and Maine State School Board of Education Chair Steven M. Pound will be giving the students their recognition certificates.
Under the direction of music teacher Andrew Forster, two seniors will be performing a clarinet duet. And music teacher Kevin Rhein will direct the Ladies chorus accompanied by music teacher Pam Rhein.
At the conclusion of the program students and their families are invited to the Department to see the artwork on display.

May 24, 2012Buckfield Jr/Sr High School art exhibit
The first annual art and music night was held on Wednesday night and the Lewiston-Auburn Sun Journal was there covering the story. You can read about it which you can read what staff writer Eileen M. Adams wrote about it by clicking here. Included in the article are several photographs of the event. Music teacher Ethan Wright led the band and Joe McLaughlin is the schools art teacher.
Troy Howard Middle School Art Show
May 19, 2012Artwork at the Belfast Co-op
Thirteen paintings, 24″ X 28″ are on display until at the Belfast Co-op. The work was done by Troy Howard Middle School students. Thank you to art teacher Lynnette Sproch for sending me this information. She and science teacher Jon Thurston collaborated working with the Ecology club to create these posters. They are on display until the end of May.
3rd Annual RSU 20 Art Show

RSU 20 is made up of the students from Belfast, Belmont, Frankfort, Morrill, Northport, Searsmont, Searsport, Stockton Springs, Swanville and students from all schools, K-12 are included in their annual art show. About 170 pieces of artwork are on display at the Hutchinson Center in Belfast until May 25th.

Bangor Schools Art Exhibit

On display at the Bangor Mall is the student art exhibit from the Bangor Schools. The mall is such a great venue to display art work since there are so many people that get to see it.
My colleague David Patterson lives in Bangor and he has a son in 1st grade who has art work on display. In David’s words: “I firmly believe that the arts are integral to a quality education. As always, the quality of work on display from across the entire school department was excellent”.
