Amber“Riding the Bus” is a black and white photography exhibit by Maranacook Middle School art teacher Linda Nichols Phillips. Bus#8 will serve as the “gallery” for the opening of the exhibit and will be parked at the footbridge at Mill Pond Stream, Memorial Park on Main Street, in Wayne. May 25, 2009, 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM. (Rain location: Ladd Center on Gott Road).

CONGRATULATIONS to Linda and others who are receiving a master’s degree! Please let us know if you are completing a degree this year!

  1. Congrats to Linda! She dove right into this project and enjoyed every moment. Linda’s work invites her viewer in to take a closer look and see through a child’s eyes how each school day begins and ends.

The Lesley experience was a challenging and rewarding program. I published my thesis recently and wrote a curriculum designed to teach members of the community to examine their communities through an artistic lens. The experience was uplifting and I look forward to sharing it with a class soon!

All the best to those graduating with their Masters from the Westbrook cohort!

  2. Congratulations! What an innovative and interesting use of photography, from concept to exhibition. Thank you for helping to give Maine art teachers a great context.

  3. This concept is similar to an event that Mensk (a arts and cultural non-prof) that has been happening over the years in Portland during first Friday art walk. We call it “the Truck Show”. We choose an artist and hang work on the walls of the U-Haul van. It gets driven around down and stopped for people to hop on and check out the gallery. This year we tried a “drum show.” Where drummers were the art. See more at http://www.menskmaine.org under the blog section.

  4. Thank you for sharing Louisa! The picture of the drummers in the back of the U-Haul is great!
